Big Belly Seahorse
The big-belly seahorse (Hippocampus abdominalis) or also known as the Pot-bellied Seahorse, this species is ideal for a temperate (unheated) marine aquarium, preferring temperatures less than 22 C. (If temperatures go higher, provide strong aeration). These captive bred specimens readily eat frozen foods such as Mysid Shrimp and Brine Shrimp. Native to South-east Australia, they can grow to 25cm, but are usually much smaller in aquaria. Background colour of individuals may be white, yellowish or olive.
At The Coral Shop, we take utmost care in ensuring the well-being of our fish. All our tropical fish are kept in a state-of-the-art closed-loop UV system. But that's not all! We've recently introduced a small dosing amount of copper to eliminate any potential diseases or parasites.
While we go to great lengths to ensure the health of our fish before shipping, we STRONGLY recommend implementing your own quarantine procedures upon purchasing livestock. This extra precaution will give you peace of mind and protect the overall health of your aquarium.
